Things to Remember in Choosing a Quality Tie

We can say that women are more fashionable than men. If women have various numbers of accessories, men usually have one common accessory that should always be seen in their wardrobe and that is a quality necktie.

Ties are the very basic accessories of men as these are very versatile for them. Be it in a formal way or less formal. Corporate people are usually the ones that we can often see wearing ties with their plain colored or patterned long sleeves. But with today’s fashion, people are becoming more experimental that they even wear ties together with their funky style with bright colored shirts, skinny type jeans or knee-length shorts.

However, even if men are used to wear ties most of the time, it is still not that easy to choose a perfect tie for a specific occasion especially if you are not that keen with different fashion styles. Sometimes, choosing a tie also depends on the attire or even with the personality of the ones who will wear it. Before, most ties are plain in color but now that we have a lot of accents with fashion, there have been many styles, colors, patterns and materials to choose from and that makes it even harder to decide for a specific tie.

And to give you some key points on how to choose a quality tie, you have to consider the unique features in order for you to have the perfect tie that will suit your outfit. Likewise, you have to be careful in choosing your tie in order for it to last longer than you expected. First thing that you need not to consider is the price because this is not a proper indicator of a high quality tie.

Most men prefer to have a tie with a fabric that has a diagonal cut. With this, they will be able to avoid having a twisted tie while wearing it. Usually, fabric cut on a bias will make you look very formal and neat because it ties and goes well with your entire outfit.

Next thing that you have to consider is the material used for the tie. You should always focus on the fabric and remember that a high quality tie uses a soft fabric. Silk will always be the best option for most men, as it never loses its shape and color. Never choose a satin because it doesn’t last long enough compared to silk. Nevertheless, polyester or silk-polyester can be an alternative and it is cheaper compared to authentic silk ties. But then, even if this is a budget friendly alternative, it still won’t look as stunning as they do in silk.

Furthermore, if you are going to settle for a silk tie, make sure that the texture is not heavy and it should always be smooth. If you see or feel a rough texture on the tie, then you can say that the quality of the silk used is poor. This is the reason why you should always be keen with all the details because sometimes, there are silk ties that are way too expensive but the quality is poor. So better be careful and learn to check the entire surface.

In addition to these key points, you also have to pay attention with the lining. Most linings are made with 100% wool and this helps to add extra thickness to the tie. It enhances the body and firmness of the tie and this can be one of the best indicators that your tie will last a long time.

And so the next time you buy a tie, try to invest on it. Scrutinize every detail so you can be 100% sure that you have a high quality tie and you can be assured that your tie will last longer. Remember that your tie is your best accent, so the better the tie, the more perfect you will look.

Every man (or boy) I know dreamed of having their own monster rc trucks. Mind you, they want to own rc (or remote control) trucks not only as a "cool" toy to navigate and control, but others even go beyond playing the rc trucks. While others prefer to collect them, others prefer building it from scratch and modfying it to make it power-pack rc trucks. Neat eh? In fact, through modfying and making them feel like a real thing, some earn big bucks by selling their toy. Though I don't get the fun or thrill part of building the monster truck, but I think I can simply equate it to my hobby of collecting purse. Hahaha! No fair comparisson as per my husband, who adores and still dream driving his own big truck or jeep. But since we cant afford to own one now, he's happy and contented of collecting rc 1:10 scale model cars for the meantime.

It's been four years since my mother in law had her thyroid surgery. THer case was hyperthyroidism, case wherein overporduction of thyroid hormone. Though the surgery went well, she feels that she needs to have it checked for further evaluation. Lately, she is complaining of difficulty in swallowing. Should be minor inconvenience on her part, but just to be sure, we recommended her to check her hormone imbalances again. Probably consult Thyroid doctor austin, and reconsider using compounded bioidentical thyroid hormone for treatment. Worth checking to be safe than be sorry.

I wish I can stop time so they will be forever be my babies. They will forever be mine. But, they grew up so fast. So fast, that I can't keep up. My little pretty princess turning seven, and my cute prince will no longer be a tot as he turns two.

Yes, little girl no more. She'll turn seven in a next few months. Day by day, she's becoming very strong and independent. No longer a cry baby. I should be happy with her new found independence, but I am not. In fact, sadness fills my heart. My little baby, now a gradeschooler can handle herself. Next few years, she might need less of me. I an afraid when that day comes. And I must be ready. But for now, she's still my baby. My pretty little princess, Samantha.

It's been a while since I've updated this blog. Too much going on around me that I feel the 24-hours not enough to cover all my pending errands. Aside from my busy work schedules and projects, my social and personal life is also busy with activities. Yep, busy is an understatement.

And now that I was able to find time to blog, my mind is in complete blank. I don't know where to start! Uugh! Not sure if I will start with the new role in the office (as more of business development lately), party preps for my little girl, my mom needing financial advise, our upcoming travel plans to South Korea by November, highschool reunion bash preparation, my little girl's big school experience, my bag "lust" for the quarter (a Prada this time), my new retail business or the welch allyn medical device depot I found on the net. And that is nearly half of my list yet.

Anyway, with so much to do list, one blog post not enough. Perhaps I ought to break it down per priority or urgency ...which is somehow impossible as all of it are urgent. Hahaha! Wish me luck ...as I don't know where to begin?

The husband bought the other day another mobile phone. This time, for his office use to test their new phone SIP to SIP application. As of today, he officially uses four (4) mobile phones, his favorite Apple phone, his personal Nokia phone, a Samsung galaxy, and his latest acquisiton, LG. Just like his previous smartphones, his new LG is an android qwerty phones as he needs it for his IP-based applications. Complete with social networking portals built in widget. The phone comes in black and white color, with extra lg phone batteries included to handle longer talk time. Great, isn't it. And with all these mutitude of smartphones coming out in the market, I hope the husband will not consider to get all brands available in the market for testing. Very expensive, eh?

They say diamonds are girl's bestfriend. So true. Most of the women I know would love to own a piece of a good, classic cut diamond ring. Either a gift from their parents, a family heriloom or a gift from their loved ones. I can still remember the time the husband proposed to me and gave ma diamond solitaire ring. It was the most beautiful jewelry piece I've ever seen. Perfect, as my fiancee (now husband) gave it to me.

The baghag is back! After being away for weeks, I am back with a vengence!! Oh, vengence is such a harsh word but more of I am back with my shopping vengence! LOL

Yes, after depriving myself for a purse-reward since early this year, now I am back ... back in getting myself a birthday pressy! And after price research, budget calculations and careful considerations, and my Hongkong trip last May, finally settled on getting my gift at the most luxurious haven on earth ... Marina Bay Shoppes in Singapore! Woohoohoo!! A real birthday treat!

And the big reveal ... THE YSL MUSE. Nothing else. In fact, choosing the right purse was easy. As I was dead-set on getting this for more than one year already. What is tough, choosing the right color. A toss between ebony and ivory color. Both so lovely and equally beautiful IRL.

Naturally, I can't have both purse or the husband will kill me! (LOL) So I settled with the safest color ever for office use ... YSL Muse Large in black with gold hardware. What else?! Initially, was determined to pick the ivory color, but chickened out. Too risky! But, if ever I'll have extra moolah (praying hard), will still get the ivory color. Why? Too fab to resist. It's the time of the month again, wherein I need to review our insurance premium. The husband would often pass this task to me as he knows I am very critical in choosing our retirement plan. With thousands of online insurance facilities available on the web, he knows I am getting good deal comparing and reviewing wholesale insurance plan. Lately, the husband is keen on getting single premium immediate annuities to fund our retirement plans. Though we are not yet in our retirement age, I guess he's keen on getting this option for his parents, both almost at their retirement age. I am not sure if possible to purchase an immediate annuity to secure their retirement benefits (or income) , but I am hoping some insurance company open to this option to fund retirement plans. Any reco?

As I've blogged on my earlier post, with too much stress and late nights at work I am not surprised that I've lost weight recently. A good ten pounds weight loss for the past three months. My friends are wondering if I am into

Too their dismay, I would always answer my weight loss attributed to work. Work and more work! Sleepless nights and unending worries on how to meet my sales quota for the year. It's been a while since I've updated my blog. I've been very busy and stressed lately at work and I miss blogging so much. I used to have enough time to update my blog about my family, the kids, my work, my wishlists for the month and almost anything under the sun. But lately, I am just overwhelmed with too much work. Not sure if this is good (or bad) but I am consumed so much with new tasks in the office. And with the new work role, comes new responsibilities, new responsibilities, new deliverables. Deliverables in the tune of P55M on NET revenue, less of all outpayments. Tsk..tsk.. difficult! And with this new challenge, I am not hitting my monthly quota at all since first quarter 2011. Very bad, indeed. Not sure if I'll ever make it this 2011. Still hoping ... and I am crossing my fingers this time :(

I love outdoor camping. In fact this is one of my favorite activity during my girl scout days so many years ago. I always look forward of exploring nature, be on your own out there ... cooking meal from scratch, sleeping under the stars, bonfire story-telling and all those bonding activities like song and dance number which made my camping days really a memorable one. And now that I am already a parent, I would love to do camping again. But this time with my kids! I want them to experience nature, learn how to survive in the wild and not just by being stuck home the entire summer watching tv and playing video games. And if budget permits, I would even want to get those trailer hitches for our SUV, bring along bikes or trailer trucks as our home camp, away from the busy city and just enjoy relaxing weekend or setting out on a great camping adventure with the family. The little girl is counting the days 'til will be off to the happiest place on earth. She's very excited with the Hongkong trip not because she'll get to see the Disney princesses and the characters, but she's more excited that it will be her little brother's first Disney trip. And she's been babbling for days now on what to see, what to prepare for her brother's trip. Very thoughtful and sweet ATE, indeed.

For this trip, will be my early birthday celebration as the kids will be back in school by first week of June. And so as not to hamper their school days, decided to move the trip two weeks earlier. Will be having a simple itinerary as the kids with me and as this will be our nth HK visit, decided to spend most of our trip inside Disneyland...and a little shopping time for myself. Hihihi!

Just received mail from our insurance company today, reminder for our annual premium payments for the husband's mortgage life insurance. It is up for payment due again and I almost forgot to set aside budget for this. You see, I've been very busy tweaking our monthly expense budget for the past months to accommodate the little girl's seventh birthday party, and the insurance premium ...aahhh, almost missed it! Good thing our insurance company sends reminder notices for the payment due dates. Otherwise, if it hadn't ... I might have totally forgotten about it. Which means, payment lapses on our end and will require additional fees to re-instate the insurance coverage. Wheew!! Thanks to gentle reminders sent by the company, with thousands of things of my mind lately ... little reminder would truly help. :)

I love flowers. In fact, I love giving fresh, beautiful flowers to friends on whatever occasion it may be. Be it birthdays, anniversarries, thank you token, get well soon or just simply to perk up their day ...sending flowers best gift to put a smile on their face. And I am thankful that giving flowers to the people I love now easy with global deliveries. Such as New York flower delivery I used last month for my sweet aunt based in New York. As she was promoted in her work, our family sent her nice yellow arrangement of flowers to celebrate the good news. She was happy when she received it.

And as much as I love giving flowers, I also love receiving them. The husband knows flowers are the best way to make me feel better especially on my low days. And he would often send me nice floral arrangements at work on my birthday, our anniversary and that would indeed make me extremely special that day.

In a few weeks time, it's back to school again. This means I need to shop again for kid's school essentials. Aside from school supplies like pads and pens, I need to get the school uniforms, leather shoes and of course, rubber shoes for PE class.

However this year, my highschooler son Ico, request is to get him a rubber shoes designed for hiking and trekking instead the usual basketball shoes. He saw nice pair of Nike ACG on sale, fashionable look with serious performance. As he and his classmates are bound to do a lot of hiking this year, he's keen on getting nice pair of Nike ACG below. Price reasonable for Nike and I just hope these models available online.

If you ask me, this is an effective marketing tool if you want your site to be frequently visited by customers. Aside from asking people to write blog or product reviews, it helps that these reviews directly linked to the seller site by simple click. Though some sellers pay more just to be on the top search list, I would like to think that it still depends on the keywords used or hits your site receives in order to be on the top search list.

In a few weeks time, I'll be a year older again. I am not excited as I used to be whenever my birthday arrives but somehow this time, I feel like I am too old already. It's as if I am running out of time, and I have not yet accomplished anything in my life. Bad, right?

And as I am not getting any younger, I am now more conscious with my skin. I now have anti-ageing cream, and religiously apply moisturizers and sun blocks on my face. Yes, only this year that I became conscious with my skin (late bloomer, du-uh!) Also, aside from taking care of my skin, I am now cautious with my food intake. Less fat and oily food, more protein. In fact, I now take vitamin supplements, do colon cleanse detox and drink tea to improve my well-being.

Yes, all of these things I've realized now that I am almost down the hill ... too late, eh?

It's been a while since I've posted my purse wish ... not sure why but definitely I've been sooo good this year. My last bag purchase was late last year, a Longchamp Limited Edition Bag -- Miyajima print for my collection. And it's almost half of the year, no new bag conquest yet. I am incredibly good, eh?

BUT, I think this would change. With my friend off to Paris in a few days, I've been busy checking all bag sites. Can't exactly point what I actually want but so far, I managed to still "lust" for the bags below ... all in black.

As I was doing research about point of care cart, I can't help but wonder if the medical field now goes full blown IT outsourcing. Yes, given that my new thrust in the company to launch Managed Services as a product, I've been very busy understanding the needs of every industry possible that would require possible IT assistance. And suddenly realized that our company is missing a lot of opportunities from the health care providers. A huge potential for telco service provider like us, as we may not be a telco transport provider for telephone or data lines for daily operations use, but we can offer full Managed Services suite to include software applications (ie: medical transcriptions), equipment, and even physical or logical security systems to keep track patients records. And the health care providers are the best candidate to have a back up or disaster recovery system in place to ensure all historical health concerns addressed with no missed data records. Huge opportunity and market, indeed. If I can only launch a customized product for health care industry soon, I guess this would be the perfect solution for our comapny to address new revenue stream...

Little baby no more... Yes, she's our sweet, pretty ATE SAMANTHA. No longer the baby of the family. She amazes me day by day by her wit and funny antics. She's growing so fast and we can't stop her. She thinks more like a little adult, act with care and refinement at her age, picks her own dress as she's gifted with fashion sense too. And as we are preparing for her upcoming 7th birthday, she's also in-charge with her party! Yes, most of the party ideas and decisions checked by the little girl. Yes, I know ... I am one of the biggies in my team. Despite trying to lose weight for months prior to our beach trip, my pills not working! I've tried to search for Diet pills that work fast online, and I think I've tested more than four variation of diet pills, still not effective. I guess it's not the diet pills anymore. Hahaha! My lack of discipline from eating and my stuborness to start excercising are the major culprit why I can't lose weight. And I hate it. Now, I am thinking to try new diet pill as I need to lose weight fast in preparation for our upcoming Hongkong trip. It has always been a cycle .... and this is bad.

summer escapades

Back from another summer vacation. This time, with my colleagues from work. We explored the beautiful island of Palawan. Love, love the place. Nature trip for us, ladies as we not only enjoyed the sun and sand of Sabang beach, but we also visited the underground river, famous tourist spot and voted as the next wonder of the world. Aside from beach swimming, we also learned a lot from pugad pawikan, habitat for endangered turtles. We were allowed to release turtles to the sea, back from their natural habitat. Truly a memorable bonding experience for all of us.

The husband must be dreaming ... no way would I allow him to get his own four-wheel all terrain vehicle (ATV). Aside from my personal issues about its safety, I doubt if it will be practical to own one as we live in the city. No way we could maximize the functionality of an ATV in the metro, right? I guess his dream of owning one was greatly influenced by his cousin who is very active in ATV races. His cousin, who by the way already a PRO in ATV racing, not only assembles his own bike, he is also a huge fan of dressing it up by getting polaris rzr accessories Mind you, the price to own the bike is nowhere cheap. And dressing it up with accessories even more expensive. And the returns, well ...according to our cousin, very rewarding, all worth it! Let's see. Now the husband is even more eager to own his dream bike. Yay!

Fifteen days to go and we are off to vacation land again. This time, it will be my pre-birthday treat as the entire family will be off to the happiest place on earth ... Hongkong Disneyland. Weeee!! I will be bringing my little toddler, Migo as it will be his first international travel. And I am so excited for him. But before I go all out on a holiday mood, need to settle all household bills to avoid service disruptions. That includes not only usual utilities, our pre-need insurances but must not forget our cable subscription too. Which coincidentally, must also call customer service for new antennas or dish to improve our viewing experience. Hahaha, very busy indeed. Wish I won't forget all these errands.

Not sure if my husband is just simply grouchy or in too much pain these past few days. He's not his usual jolly, happy self but instead, he gets easily irritated with the humid weather (naturally, because it's summer) and complaining of joint pains when cold at night. I am thinking he's experiencing arthritis pain as it is persistent around the knee area. He complains joint stiffness with excruciating pain. Hoping not serious, though as I am afraid if his arthritis symptoms persists, he might be a candidate for joint replacement. Very bad. Anyway, any immediate pain relief suggestions?

The seed of life ...resurrection of Jesus Christ. And why we color or decorate the eggs? Not certain but in early Medieval days, they used eggs as gifts. And as eggs symbols life, a gift of new life.

Whatever explanations or traditions it may be, children and adults both celebrate Easter. A day to be thankful that God gave His only son to save us from our sins. Celebration of re-birth ...renewal of life.

home improvements ... again

Yes, I am bound to do some home improvements next month. This time, my house project involves the lanai cum garden area. I am thinking of removing the old plants, and changing it to a more simple and low maintenance zen-type garden design. And as much as I want to add koi pond, space is a problem. Nevertheless, I still want big improvement from my present garden space. Probably change the plants by putting up bamboo trees with blue grass aroound the corners. That would be lovely! And naturally, must change the present garden drainage. Probably change water hose too, not the high pressure hydraulic hose for commercial use but simple garden hose to keep the area clean. No concrete plans yet but I am definitely sure will do some drastic change with our present garden. Excited! =)

Yes, the little girl is indeed summer happy. Aside from enjoying unlimited tv and playtime with her little brother, I've enrolled her to several summer activities to keep her busy the entire summer. These activites includes:

1. Swimming lessons by Aqualogic Swim Co - one hour swim fun every Satruday at CSA, Makati.

2. Gymnastics lessons by Club Gymnastica at SPC Pasig - Class MWF at 9-12am.

3. Mc Donalds Kiddie Crew by 3rd week of April.

Full sked, eh? And to add to these activites, birthday parties here and there and our upcoming HongKong family trip by May. Whoa! And I wonder if i can still squeeze her reading class by May. Let's see.

House renovation in progress. For the past week, we've been very busy with several home improvements. And since it is summer, we are taking advantage of the summer heat by doing all possible work. These includes: 1. exterior house painting of entire house. 2. scrape to metal for gates, and re-paint color to brown. 3. fix the bathroom tiles. add another water outlet. 4. de-clogging of sink , new pipe for drainage. 5. re-painting of interior wall to a different color. 6. change of tiles, probably to laminate flooring. 7. fix all busted lights. 8. change main door to a different wood 9. fix all hinges of ecterior cabinets.

Summer here again. And now that the kids already off from school, I need to find ways how to make them productive and useful this summer. Aside from enrolling them to summer camp like basketball, baking, football or swimming, I would like to expose the kids with social awareness activities that would probably open their eyes with the realities of the world. Probably engage them with care for environment worthy-cause activities, such as tree planting or recycling campaign. Or probably expose them to home or nurse care awareness. One way of reaching out to old people and expose them to people with disabilities who are simply waiting for SSDI benefits claim. Though two of my kids still young for these awareness campaign, but I guess my fifteen-year old son would be interested as an outreach program of the youth. What do you think?

HK bound for summer

Yes, we are HongKong bound this summer. Weeee, super excited to be back on the happiest place on earth! This time, more excited as we will be back with the youngest member of our family, Migo. Our travel will be perfect this year as we will catch the 5th Year Anniversary of Disneyland HK and see the new float parade --- Flights of Fantasy with Tinkerbell's fairies too. Really excited! The Chinese community celebrated New Year with a bang early this month, and as being half-Chinese, traditions must be followed. To welcome the year, aside from being with my family, I prepared sticky cake (tikoy) shared by the family. On the eve of New Year, prepared my wishing paper and lit up incense sticks wherein I jotted down all my wish for the family (and work) this year. Gave out ang-paos (red envelope) too with money inside amounting to P168 ... told to be the lucky number for Chinese. The angpaos given to the kids and supposed to be kept for the year. Hopefully, with all these preparations it will be a lucky year for me and the husband =)

Summer loots all here! Yes, as we are Boracay bound in a few days, I am happy that my loots arrived just in time. Mostly for the little bratinella, as I was able to get her good bathing suits online. Bought her shorts, bikini and rash guard on sale! While I got myself cute polka-dotted tankini top. Tee-hee! Unfortunately I was expecting the acne treatment products delivered on time too... but sadly as per my last tracking, package still in transit. Simply counting the weeks and we will be off to Bora-heaven. Yes, the excited beach girl in me would like to go back to the pristine beach of Boracay. Almost exactly after a year from my last visit. But this time, I will be in Bora not for work but, for a complete R&R with my family. Yes, ultimate heaven! As early as now I am preparing our beach gears, buying suits for the kids including rashguards to protect them from the heat of the sun. It's the time of the month and paychecks already here ...everyone happy at work today.

Aside from our salary and usual allowances, received my performance bonus also today. Weee!! Thanks to my overwhelming 2010 performance, and my boss gave me a performance bonus. Yes, aside from hitting my set target last year, my projects were all implemented and returned a good revenue for the company. Aside from being monitored by performance appraisals and performance management software, the company also implemented a 360 feedback from our internal support team. Hence, happy that I passed all these metrics with flying colors. And the end result ...more shopping moolah for me! Hahaha! Thank you, Bayan.

Yes, we are big fan of food delivery. Our nights will not be complete without our usual midnight snack. And our top favorite midnight snack food --pizza! In fact, my six year old daughter knows the pizza delivery hotline by heart. All top four pizza delivery: Yellow Cab, Pizza Hut, Shakey's and Greenwich. And if she's craving for chicken and spaghetti, Mc Do delivery at 24 x 7 availability. Perfect snack food for hungry peeps like us. Fast and convenient. And I heart them all. For days now, I've been thinking of things I want to give myself this Christmas. And since I received a hefty bonus from my company for a job well done the previous year, I am thinking of rewarding myslef with a luxury item that will remind me of my contribution to the company. I've listed some "nice" items in my wish list:

1. bag - yes, another bag. this time, the oh-so nice mulberry alexa in oak color, oversized. (but not a priority!)

2. new watch - thinking of getting myself junior size men's watch (like omega seamaster, perhaps?)

3. new home theater/LCD for our bedroom -- our old one broke weeks ago.

4. nice "key" pendant from tiffany and co. -- beautifully wrapped in a small blue box ... i love how dainty it looks!

If you will check your social networking sites, particularly Facebook you will see there's a new craze such as cartoon characters popping up as profile picture. This is for a campaign to stop violence against children. And to support the campaign, I posted my favorite cartoon show ... Care Bears. I can clearly remember these lovable and huggable bears which I used to watch every afternoon from school. Now I miss them so much ... wish they will revive this again for my kids to enjoy now. =)

It was really fun bringing back childhood memories. I can still remember my gradeschool days that I would rush home after school just to catch the 430pm show. And not only was I hooked with the show, I even collected stickers for my album collection. Haaayy..those childhood carefree days. My sister Samantha is getting married in six months and many of my family members have been diligently planning menus, decorations, wedding attire, and entertainment to ensure this is a very momentous occasion for her. My sister is having a fall wedding and her colors will be fall green with some hints of burgundy. This time reminded me of my own fall wedding where Jeff, my husband, and I got married just six short years ago. Now with two kid’s under tow, I feel like an old married woman compared to my sister, but I am tickled pink since she finally asks my advice on subject like marriage, starting a family and raising a family. I love answering these questions for her and feel really honored that I can be here for her and really act as a “big sister.”

She has been such a good sister and aunt to my children and has also taken on the responsibility of being their God Parent. There’s nothing like family, and at these times it really is an opportunity where I can show my own children the importance of good family relations.

My mom joked not long after my dad got his new pick-up truck that he was going to need that bumper sticker that said "Yes, this is my truck. No, I won't help you move." Little did I know that friends of those who have trucks can be roped into helping as well.

A dear friend, who knows how much I hate helping people move, asked me if I could borrow my dad's truck and help her out! I don't mind spending an afternoon helping her unpack, and I did offer to help with that. But for the actual packing and moving portion of her journey across town, I gave her a website address where she can get moving quotes from reputable companies in the area.

I have never asked her (or anyone who is not immediate family) to help me move before, and I never will. I just do not think it is fair to expect a full afternoon of work out of friends and pay them in pizza.

Anyway, she thanked me for the offer and said she would let me know, but now I am feeling very guilty. Why? Like I said, I have never asked her to help me move before. Also, I would have to find a babysitter for Samantha to help her in any consequential way.

Well, I suppose I should sign off the computer for awhile and work on getting this house clean. I can hear Samantha babbling to herself through the monitor, but I doubt she will continue to be this good for very long.

And they thought Migo and Samantha are twins ... Not! It's just that we decided to have a joint celebration party for Miguel Inigo Gabriel and Samantha Gabrielle since their birthdates is just seven (7) days apart. Migo turned one year old on November 11 while Samantha turned six on the 4th. And since we will be celebrating with the family and same set of friends anyway, we decided to hold a joint party few days after their actual natal days, November 14 Sunday. Mas tipid din! Hehehe!

Party theme was initially planned as Pirates wherein Migo will be Peter Pan and Samantha as Tinkerbell. And us parents and guests, pirates and gypsies! However, after looking for some party decors online, decided to forgo the initial theme. Not appropriate for a toddler party. Too scary to use skeletons, red and black balloons as first birthday party theme.

Thus, we decided to do safari jungle party theme instead. Very apt and appropriate for babies and kids, non-gender specific too. Happy that I’ve chose this theme as everyone can relate with animal theme. =)

Venue : Greenmeadows Clubhouse, Quezon City
I thought I was early with my party planning eight (8) months prior. But I was dead wrong! My preferred venues (Valle 6, Acropolis, NEGA, The Grove, Corinthians, North Forbes Clubhouse and Dasma) already booked by the time I started calling and searching for venues. My only hope during that time, Greenmeadows Clubhouse which is under renovation for months and with no definite date of completion! Aaargghh!

And just to make sure I have a place for party during my party planning stages, I tentatively booked the ff venues: 8/F St. Francis Tower (P12K, Function 1-3 good for 120 pax) ; Fully Booked Rooftop at BGH (P18K for 4 hours, 200 pax) ; Valle Verde 2 (P7K for 4 hrs, 150 pax).

Alas, my patience paid off (or was it pure luck?), I received a call from Greenmeadows Clubhouse that they are open for party reservations by end of June. Immediately, I am at the venue and was really surprised with the huge improvement of the clubhouse. It was indeed beautiful. New tiles, spacious lawn/play area, wide entrance façade, lighting very modern-looking and the place is really nice! And as expected, with the place newly renovated, the rental price also fetched higher. From previously P12K rental fee for 4 hours, new rate at P22,500 with P10K security deposit. Yeah, the price you have to pay with the renovations! Hahaha! But got no other choice, I am left with no venue at that time. ( Tip: book your party venue 1 year in advance and you will never be sorry!LOL)

Over-all, the venue is perfect location for my guests. Easy to find, parking not a problem, staff (Miriam) easy to talk to for reservations. Not strict and very friendly too! =) Bathrooms very clean (a must for me!), amenities are top notch! Moreover, getting my security deposit (P10K) is not a problem too. After the day of event, my check already available for pick-up! =)

Though, some minor (but tolerable) matter: Village security. Very strict. You need to submit name list of suppliers and guests days before the event. Well this worked to my advantage! =) Since I am required to submit lists, guests are obliged to confirm and send me RSVP responses. This made my guest list and head count easy for the party. Hahaha! =)

Catering : K by Cunanan
I don’t think I need to give good reviews for this caterer. They are very much in demand in the wedding industry. Well-known for their classy set-up, extra-ordinarily good food, excellent service and a real value-for-money! =)

Guests enjoyed the food. In fact, guests loved it. We received nice compliments with the choice of food. Adult food served that day: crackling pork in hoisin wrap (appetizer), shrimp and mango salad, broccoli-cheese soup (the best!), baked fish topped with sliver almonds, rolled chicken in teriyaki sauce, lengua, carrot rice (best seller!), seafood pasta in carbonara sauce and kiwi pannacota (dessert), tiramisu in martini glass and raspberry iced tea. Kiddie buffet also served : spaghetti with meat balls, mini corn dogs and chicken lollipops.

Side kwento: on the day of my kiddie event, Kaye (the owner) was present to ensure everything in placed. I love her hands-on approach. Very personal. Be it just simple or small event, she’s present. In fact, one of the things I loved about K Catering, they only accept limited function per day. They don’t accept too much event in one day or mass produce their service.

And yes, because I am happy with their service, I already booked them for my daughter’s 7th birthday party by 2011. Happy with them! =)

Very good host with good diction and speaks fluent English. Patient and knows how to keep the kids entertained and well-behaved too! Games provided by Gene are not your usual bring me but instead he made it like a guessing game for kids to enjoy. I also liked the name that tune game for kids. Entertaining and challenging for kids. And since Samantha knows and adores all the songs used in the game, she enjoyed guessing each of the song. Obviously she’s well-verse with Nick Jr. iCarly and Disney movies.

Magic with Illusion by Ricci (by Jelly Bellies)

Two thumbs up!! Really amazing show! Kids and adults super liked it! In fact, this is not your usual magic show tricks. The illusions done mesmerized the kids, ad even awed the adults more with unending ooohhs and aaahhhs. It was my first time to see in real life contortionist inside the box, and the floating lady trick. Awesome and I simply love Ricci. Great recommendation by Angelette of Jelly Bellies.

Balloon Sculptor : Eric Uy (by Jelly Bellies)
Simple, soft-spoken and very quiet Eric Uy. Availed his services for unlimited balloon for the duration of the party. So that would be 4-hours =) He provides not your usual dog and bird balloons for kids but instead, creatively balloons sculptures in the form of a ballerina, sponge bob character, little mermaid, spider man and more! Very talented guy! Will definitely get him on my next party =)

Food Carts: CHAMPOLA BLAST
Actually I was thinking of getting different ice cream cart for my party but the food cart I wanted already booked on my party date. Too bad. Thus, my only options to book what is available ice cream cart. It was a tough choice between FIC and Champola Blast, but since I want to try something different, decided to avail Champola Blast instead. This is not your usual ice cream in a cup or cone. Champola Blasts are served on a wafer stick with a different toppings or flavors. Cool eh? Kids loved it. Sadly, I was not able to taste it. Too busy with the party. =(

Food Carts: NY Fries and Dips (from Jelly Bellies Co.)
I was not able to taste this too. As I am busy with the party. But my son Ico told me he liked NYFD (who wouldn’t?) Love their dips barbecue and ranch. Best-seller to guests. Unfortunately, I noticed that the mini cups are all half-filled. =( Neverthless, fries served hot and cooked well, add the tasty dips makes the perfect french fries treat for everyone!

Food Carts: KRISPY KREME CORNER
No, did not avail the Krispy Kreme booth … too pricey for me! I don’t see any reason why I would pay P10K for donuts alone with just one staff giving donuts from the racks. It is not even baked on the spot. Hahaha! Thus, I came up with an idea of setting up a Krispy Kreme corner (did this from my previous parties) wherein guests can have free access on assorted donuts. Self service style! I just simply placed a tarp indicating Krispy Kreme corner, and asked the caterer to set up a table beside the Starbucks booth (naturally coffee and donuts should go together). Bought twelve (12) dozens of donuts in assorted flavors (spent P3K+), asked for wax papers, KK napkins and even party hats for kids and voila … have my Krispy Kreme corner -- the tipid style! =) Love, love this idea! =)

Learned about Les Sucreries from one of my blogging friends, Gracie. Saw the cake design from her son’s 1st bday party and I immediately fell in love with it. It was my first time to deal with Les Sucreries and my initial encounter not that good comparing to all my suppliers I had for this party. Response kinda slow and we had little misunderstanding over limited design LO for cakes. I was informed quite late that there’s a limit of 3 x LOs only for cake design. Of course not aware of this, as this was not discussed PRIOR my downpayment/reservation of cake. No contracts even sent to me at an earlier stage of negotiations despite providing downpayment around June.

Anyway, after informing Les Sucreries regarding my disappointments, much attention then given to my order. Our next transactions went smoothly and everything went well. Les Sucreries provided beautiful cakes (yes, got two cakes) for my kids. One cake for Migo and another cake for Samantha. The cakes provided really moist and yummy … love the taste! Got chocolate cake and the choco-carrot flavor, her best-seller flavors =)

The husband’s one and only request for the party … get Starbucks out of store booth! =) This is the 2nd time we availed the Starbucks booth for our party, and of course with the husband coffee addiction, this is another permanent must-haves in our party.

Though the option for Starbucks coffee very limited (availed milk-based drinks for the Frappucino) since they can’t bring their huge espresso machine … guests don’t seem to mind at all. Regardless if their only option choco, caramel or vanilla frap … what the heck, it is still free coffee anyway! =)

And the good thing about SSI, since the husband is a valued client of Starbucks Emerald branch, he was able to choose specific barista who joined us for the party. Naturally he chose the Emerald branch baristas to join us. Cool people! =) And the best part, since the party was held in November, we got free holiday planners too! The husband prefers a free-for-all food carts while I, the OC in me wanted to give each guests (whether late or not) chance to enjoy the food carts.

How did I implement the food stubs? It was easy. As I need the confirmation of guests and family for security requirements of Greenmeadows Clubhouse, I was actually able to name and list the family members who will attend the party. Whether they confirmed or not, I prepared food stubs per family. Upon registration, each family given an envelope with their names which corresponds number of food stubs inside. Starbucks given to adults, while NYFD, Chef Tony Popcorn etc are for kids or vice-versa. I told people who man the booth to be strict with food stubs. No food stubs, no food treats! =) This is also for control measures. =)

Many of my friends liked the idea, it was very organized. Every family get to taste all the food …and we never ran out of supplies. In fact, food carts lasted until 7pm wherein only a few quantities left. Upon seeing some extra, we opened all the carts last thirty (30) minutes of the party.

If you will ask me if will do food stub again next year, definitely YES! Proven it really works! =)

on losing weight

My son Ico needs to lose weight, fast! With no much activity or sports, and too much food binge lately he's growing heavier day by day. Despite putting him on a diet watch, and limiting his rice and carbohydrates intake...it's not working! Well, aside from lack of discipline,he's also a growing boy. And growing boys need all possible nutrients, fiber to keet them strong. By age eighteen, and he has not yet trimmed down, I am afraid I will ask him to consider taking weightlosstablets. What do you think?

It offers wide variety of vacation houses with oceanview or beachfront for guests to enjoy quiet time at the beach, and at the same time will be able to visit other place of interest at the outer banks. more gifts for the kids

After the party, received so much gifts for my baby boy ... so much that I don't know where to place everything! LOL The little boy received toys, shirts and shoes that I think will last me for the next three years. Isn't that great? I will be saving a lot this year for Christmas presents for the kids. No need to buy gifts for them. Hahaha! But of course the husband insists that we still get them wooden swing sets. Though we don't have place yet where to place the swing sets, the husband thinks still a lovely idea so the kids will have place to rest and play. Probably next year, will be lucky to get the vacant lot next to our place. Ler's see.

balloon pop

Lots of toys and gifts from Toy Kingdom! These are prizes for the balloon burst for the upcoming party of Migo and Samantha. This year, I've decided to prepare two balloon burst ... one for migo, and the other one for samantha. To facilitate the game, will be dividing the participants by age group so everybody will get equal opportunity of getting something from the balloon burst. And to make it more fun and exciting for kids, the balloon pop will be done simultaneously. Hahaha! The little girl is very excited with it! In fact, she's counting the days before the actual D-Day. Hahaha!
Off to party talks, need to read more about mesothelemia as my colleague shared that one of her aunts suffered from cancer due too much exposure in asbestos. They are seeking legal help and requesting friends to read more about their case and fight against it.

.. til Christmas. Wow, time flies fast!

With the Halloween Trick or Treat'n season over, no more witches and ghouls displayed at the malls. In fact, the orange and black decors were magically replaced overnight with sparkling red and gold trimmings, jolly cheers and songs and lots of yuletide colors in preparation for Christmas. Some of my friends already started putting up their Christmas tree as early as November 1, while for my family ... well, still too early. We need to finish the kids birthdays first before we decide what theme and colors to use for th holiday season. However, it was earlier agreed that will be getting a special christmas wreath this time to complement our tree. Really excited! It will be our first time to set up christmas wreath, and we are so looking forward to getting our fresh wreath this year. Any nice suggestions?

Spooktacular Halloween!

Just got back from our short weekend treat! Our Halloween Trick or Treat'n was spent at Sofitel Hotel wherein we booked for an overnight accommodation to enjoy the Spooktacular Halloween Specials at Spirals. By booking an overnight accommodation, we were able to enjoy two free tickets for Halloween Trick or Treat, buffet breakfast for two at Spirals (kids eat free!) and enjoy the nice pool for the kids to swim. And to make it more fun, we've invited some of our relatives to join us for a swim and spend the Halloween night with us =) Awesome break from the city! Ok, too much fun in the sun eh? Seriously, I need to find the best anti wrinkle cream available in the market for my use. Since I am not getting any younger, and with too much exposure in the sun lately, I need to start taking care of my skin. You see, I am bad with skin maintenance and my derma can attest to that! LOL

My online blogger friends recently informed me about a new marketing site called, ShareWealth. too many parties

I am so stressed! With barely twelve days to go, I am still finalizing some of party pending deliverables for the kids big day. To top it off, too many late nights and back to back parties clamoring for my attention. For this month, my weekends are fully-booked with kiddie parties (birthdays and baptisms), colleagues' thanksgiving parties, company events (movie premiere and boxing match) and even early christmas party. Aaagghh!! Now dark circles can be found under my eyes with too much party organizing, and wee hours sleeping habits. This is very bad! =( Any quick-fix suggestions?

planning for a holiday trip

Any suggestion where I can avail payday advance? Not that I need one, but my brother who is planning to go bring his family for a holiday trip is thinking of availing payday cash advance to cover their travel expenses. You see, they've been planning for years to spend the holidays in the US, visit our relatives based in SanFo, and of course, experience white Christmas and snow. Any tips how to get rid of wrinkles? I am badly in search of the best anti-wrinkle cream as I need to get one soon. I noticed that there are wrinkles that can be seen at the corner of my eyes, and I need to find remedy asap. Not that I am scared of aging, in fact, I welcome the idea of getting old but I want to age in years but not age with my skin. Hahaha, so vain eh?! If I can retain my baby smooth suppleness skin, I will do so. Thus I needto be pro-active and should start taking care of my skin. Any suggestions?

Almost done. With the kids upcoming birthday parties in a few weeks time, all party essentials completed and finalized together with my party coordinator, Jelly Bellies. Party invites already sent out, and all my friends liked the 2D or pop-out invites with the jungle safari theme. And since all my party suppliers already finalized, next on my list ... gift registry. All my friends were asking gift preference of my kids, I asked them to consider giving online gift cards instead for the kids. Much preferred since I love to shop clothes and toys for the kids online. Easy and convenient, don't you think so?
